Phrasal Verb


Phrasal verbs consists of a basic verb + another word or words. The two or three words that make up a phrasal verb form a short 'phrase' - which is why we call them 'phrasal verbs'.


Phrasal Verb:
get down

Meaning / Example:

1. Sl. to lay one's money on the table. (Gambling.)
> Okay, everybody get down.

2. Sl. to concentrate; to do something well.
> I'm flunking two subjects, man. I gotta get down.
> Come on, Sam, pay attention. Get down and learn this stuff.
