Phrasal Verb


A group of words which have a different meaning when used together from the one they would have if you took the meaning of each word separately.


Phrasal Verb:
settle down

Meaning / Example:

1. to calm down.
> Now, children, it's time to settle down and start class.
> If you don't settle down, I'll send you all home.

2. to settle into a stable way of life; to get married and settle into a stable way of life.
> Tom, don't you think it's about time you settled down and stopped all of this running around?
