Idioms


An idiom is defined as - a group of words in a fixed order that has a particular meaning that is different from the meanings of each word on its own.


Idiom:
put one's head on the block for (someone or something)

Meaning:
to take great risks for someone or something

Example:
Our supervisor was always willing to put his head on the block for any member of the staff.
