Idioms
An idiom is a type of phrase or expression that has a meaning that can't be deciphered by defining the individual words.
Idiom:
put out a fire or a light
Meaning:
to make a flame or light stop burning, to extinguish a flame or fire
Example:
The citizens were able to put out the fire before the fire department arrived.
