An idiom is a type of phrase or expression that has a meaning that can't be deciphered by defining the individual words.


Idiom:
put (something) past (someone)

Meaning:
to be surprised by what someone does (usually used in the negative)

Example:
I would not put it past my friend to try and change jobs for the second time this year.
