Idioms


An expression in the usage of a language that is peculiar to itself either in having a meaning that cannot be derived from the conjoined meanings of its elements or in its grammatically atypical use of words.


Idiom:
too clever by half

Meaning:
to be very confident of your own intelligence but in a way that irritates other people

Example:
My friend is too clever by half. He thinks that he knows everything which is very annoying.
