Phrasal Verb


Phrasal verbs consists of a basic verb + another word or words. The two or three words that make up a phrasal verb form a short 'phrase' - which is why we call them 'phrasal verbs'.


Phrasal Verb:
batter something down

Meaning:
to smash or break down something, such as a wall, door, or any defensive structure.

Example:
Do they have to batter anything down as part of the construction project?
