Phrasal Verb


A phrase that combines a verb with a preposition or adverb or both and that functions as a verb whose meaning is different from the combined meanings of the individual words.


Phrasal Verb:
call someone back

Meaning / Example:

1. to call someone again on the telephone.
> Since she is not there, I will call her back in half an hour.

2. to return a telephone call to a person who had called earlier.
> I got his message; I will call him back tomorrow.
