Phrasal verbs are two or more words that come together to give us a new verb with a different meaning from the original words.
Phrasal Verb:
call something up
Meaning:
to summon information from a computer.
Example:
With a few strokes on the computer keyboard, Sally called up the figures she was looking for.

Phrasal verbs consists of a basic verb + another word or words. The two or three words that make up a phrasal verb form a short 'phrase' - which is why we call them 'phrasal verbs'.
