Phrasal Verb


A phrase that consists of a verb with a preposition or adverb or both, the meaning of which is different from the meaning of its separate parts.


Phrasal Verb:
close down and shut down [for someone]

Meaning:
to close a business, office, shop, etc., permanently or temporarily.

Example:
This shop will have to close down if they raise taxes.
