Phrasal Verb
Phrasal verbs are two or more words that come together to give us a new verb with a different meaning from the original words.
Phrasal Verb:
cough something up
Meaning / Example:
1. to get something out of the body by coughing.
> She coughed some matter up and took some more medicine.
2. Euph. to vomit something.
> The dog coughed the rabbit up.
> The dog coughed up the food it had eaten.
3. Sl. to produce or present something, such as an amount of money.
Phrasal verbs are compound verbs that result from combining a verb with an adverb or a preposition. The resulting compound verb is idiomatic.
