Phrasal Verb
A group of words which have a different meaning when used together from the one they would have if you took the meaning of each word separately.
Phrasal Verb:
pay someone off
Meaning / Example:
1. to pay what is owed to a person.
> I can't pay you off until Wednesday when I get my paycheck.
2. to bribe someone.
> Max asked Lefty if he had paid the cops off yet.
Phrasal verbs are two or more words that come together to give us a new verb with a different meaning from the original words.
