A verb combined with an adverb or a preposition, or sometimes both, to give a new meaning.


Phrasal Verb:
puff someone or something up

Meaning:
to boost or promote someone or something.

Example:
Judy puffed Nell up so much that Nell could not begin to live up to her reputation.
