Phrasal Verb


Phrasal verbs are multi-word verbs that, like single-word verbs, convey action of the body or mind or occurrences. Phrasal verbs consist of a basic verb + another word or words, usually a preposition or adverb. Example: speak (basic verb) + up (preposition)


Phrasal Verb:
pull something down

Meaning / Example:

1. to demolish something; to raze something.
> Why do they want to pull the building down? Why not remodel it?
> They are going to pull down the old building today.

2. to lower or reduce the amount of something.
> That last test pulled my grade down.
