Phrasal Verb


Phrasal verbs are two or more words that come together to give us a new verb with a different meaning from the original words.


Phrasal Verb:
put something together

Meaning / Example:

1. to assemble something.
> How long will it take to put dinner together?
> This model was put together incorrectly.

2. to consider some facts and arrive at a conclusion.
> I couldn't put everything together to figure out the answer in time.

Phrasal verbs are multi-word verbs that, like single-word verbs, convey action of the body or mind or occurrences. Phrasal verbs consist of a basic verb + another word or words, usually a preposition or adverb. Example: speak (basic verb) + up (preposition)
