Phrasal Verb
Phrasal verbs are two or more words that together act as a completely new verb with a meaning separate from those of the original words.
Phrasal Verb:
reef a sail in
Meaning:
to reduce the area of a ship's sail, by folding the sail.
Example:
The first mate ordered the sailors to reef the sails in.
A verb combined with an adverb or a preposition, or sometimes both, to give a new meaning.
