Phrasal Verb


Phrasal verbs consists of a basic verb + another word or words. The two or three words that make up a phrasal verb form a short 'phrase' - which is why we call them 'phrasal verbs'.


Phrasal Verb:
scratch someone or something up

Meaning:
to damage or mar someone or something by scratching.

Example:
Being thrown clear of the car in the accident didn't break any bones, but it scratched her up a lot.
