Phrasal verbs are two or more words that together act as a completely new verb with a meaning separate from those of the original words.


Phrasal Verb:
stay behind [for someone]

Meaning:
to remain in a place when others have left.

Example:
I will stay behind and tell the late arrivers where you have gone.
