Phrasal Verb


A phrase that combines a verb with a preposition or adverb or both and that functions as a verb whose meaning is different from the combined meanings of the individual words.


Phrasal Verb:
trot something out Fig.

Meaning:
to mention something regularly or habitually, without giving it much thought. ( on the image of trotting out a pony for display.)

Example:
When James disagreed with Mary, she simply trotted her same old political arguments out.
