Phrasal Verb


A group of words which have a different meaning when used together from the one they would have if you took the meaning of each word separately.


Phrasal Verb:
bring someone up for something

Meaning / Example:

1. to suggest someone's name for something.
> I would like to bring Beth up for vice president.
> I will bring up Beth for this office if you don't.

2. to put someone's name up for promotion, review, discipline, etc.
> We brought Tom up for promotion.
