Phrasal Verb
Phrasal verbs are compound verbs that result from combining a verb with an adverb or a preposition. The resulting compound verb is idiomatic.

1. [for an opening] to close completely.
> The door closed up and would not open again.
2. [for a place of business] to close for business.
> The store closed up and did not open until the next day.
