Phrasal Verb


A group of words which have a different meaning when used together from the one they would have if you took the meaning of each word separately.


Phrasal Verb:
come up

Meaning / Example:

1. to come from a lower place to a higher one.
> Come up and enjoy the view from the tallest rooftop in the county.

2. to come near; to approach.
> He came up and began to talk to us.
> A heron came up while we were fishing, but it just ignored us.

3. to come to someone's attention.
> The question of what time to be there never came up.
